Most of you know Kirk Cameron from his seminal role on the 1980’s sitcom Growing Pains, but nowadays he’s something of an evangelical icon. He recently made headlines for turning a tiny Christian independent movie about a fireman (filmed on location here in Georgia) into a blockbuster hit. Cameron has transformed from teen idol to running nothing short of a Christian empire. As I write in the book: “His ‘Way of the Master Ministries’ is a small media empire with books, speaking engagements, a radio show, DVDs, and an evangelical television show that’s seen in seventy countries. Even Growing Pains isn’t seen that far and wide.”
And so I guess it was inevitable that the day would come when I would get interviewed by that very radio show -- Way of the Master Radio. It’s hosted by Todd Friel, a well-known evangelist. I assumed the interview would be a lot like the time I was on a Catholic radio show when a priest and I both shed a little light on the funnier aspects of our respective religions. This morning’s interview opened with some traditional Jewish music, funny for an evangelical radio show, so I assumed this interview would be light like the others. But soon after we got started, it turned into a theology lesson and conversion effort.
The truth is I don’t mind. Todd’s faith tells him to reach out to the unconverted. I respect that. I just find it strange because I spent an entire year going to church and not once did someone try to convert me. And then came this interview. Not to mention that this comes on the heels of Stephen Baldwin trying to convert me yesterday. Yes, that Stephen Baldwin. I’ll write about that experience in an upcoming post.
In the meantime, here’s a clip of the radio interview from this morning with Todd. Despite the efforts to have me jump over the proverbial fench of faith, I had a good time. Sit back and enjoy.

I heard the WOTMR show today and had a question for you.
You spoke of the doctrines of Judaism, and mentioned a works righteousness system, the scales weighing your works.
But what of the whole sacrificial system established by God? This is the true Judaism and Messiah Yeshua is the lamb of God promised to Abraham.
Gen 22:7 And Isaac spoke unto Abraham his father, and said: ‘My father.’ And he said: ‘Here am I, my son.’ And he said: ‘Behold the fire and the wood; but where is the lamb for a burnt-offering?’
Gen 22:8 And Abraham said: ‘God will provide Himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son.’ So they went both of them together.
Messiah Yeshua is our passover lamb.
Un-broken bones and all.
Exo 12:46 In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth aught of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.
Joh 19:32 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him.
Joh 19:33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.
Btw, all true christians will preach the gospel as Todd did. We also know that conversion is a work of God and only comes through the foolishness of preaching. No one is trying to force anything on you.

when mentioning the ‘doctrines of Judaism’ , it’s important to note the difference between Biblical Judaism that we found in the Hebrew bible and rabinical Judaism , that added a variety of tradions and rituals, and in a lot of cases changed the doctrines of the text.
Orthodox Judaism today should more appropriately be called Talmudic Judaism;
The system of redemptions thru good works was introduced by the rabbis after the destruction of the second temple; Hashem never intended to change the sacrificial system to a ‘good works’ system, and is it is clearly stated in Leviticus :
For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.” (Leviticus 17:11)
Our true attonment is G-d’s perfect lamb that he provided for us, to make attonment once and for all our sins. It’s Yeshu’a , our messiah and high priest, and that , my brother, is true ‘Jewish doctrine’, straight from the Hebrew scriptures.
