Hello, Benyamin---
I just this minute finished “My Jesus Year”. I got interested in reading it after hearing you on NPR--I think it was “Fresh Air”.
Much of the book resonated with me, being a “Recovering Catholic” and having struggled with faith (or the lack of it) most of my life. In December ‘08, at the age of 51, I joined a church willingly for the first time since the age of thirteen...a Unitarian Universalist church. So, in the end, I did not go back to the religion of my youth (too much baggage there!), or even Christianity, but found another society in which I feel that I belong. By the way, UUs believe in the same tenet that ALL religions, including Judaism, have as a core belief in some variation: “Love thy neighbor as thyself.”
Anyway, I loved your book. I laughed a lot, learned a lot about Judaism, and now feel a little more forgiving towards the Catholic church.
Peace,
