Benyamin's Blog

I had the opportunity to hang out with Jerry Springer last week. Believe it or not, it was actually the second time I met the over-the-top talk show host. I got to interview him a year ago for a profile I was writing about Jerry’s involvement with his Jewish faith. (For those wondering, many of relatives were killed in the Holocaust and he spends a lot of his off-time being very active in the Jewish community.) He’s actually a real sweet guy in person, nothing like you’d expect if you’ve ever seen his scandal-ridden shows. Anyway, I gave him a copy of “My Jesus Year”. He appreciated it and, with all the traveling he does, hopefully he’ll have a plane ride to read it on soon.

you’re friends with Jerry Springer, eh?
well well well.
what a surprise.
i suppose you uppraided him with some heavy orthodox jewish morality about the smut he puts on TV, polluting our airways and the souls of all unfortunate enough to watch his trash.
but then again, Jerry made a lot of money producing this crap and airing it to gullible people.
and Marx said that the god of the Jews is money.
so maybe he should be up for a Jewish Noballs prize????
I found your book at Borders yesterday afternoon, and I stayed up until 2:00 in the morning to finish it. It’s amazing! I am going to recommend it to all my theology-loving friends. I grew up Catholic, went to a Catholic university, became an atheist, discovered Religious Science, left that, and now...well...I seek God in my own way and on my own terms. Like you said so eloquently, there are many ways to discover the same truth. Your book made me laugh out loud - and it made me think and feel deeply. Excellent!
